Corporate responsibility

THE GROUPE BERKEM’S CSR (CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY) APPROACH

AN ETHICAL AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT POLICY

In general, the CSR approach aims to assess Corporate Social Responsibility and the maturity of companies in terms of Sustainable Development. It covers seven areas of action: governance, human rights, labour relations and conditions, the environment, fair practices, consumer issues, community and local development.

Implementing a Sustainable Development policy aims to:

·         Ecourage social dialogue and stakeholders’ trust

·         Meet the requirements of stakeholders and customers in particular,

·         Provide a new dynamic based on economic, social and ecological issues.

The Groupe Berkem has been involved in the ISO 26 000 standard CSR approach since the end of 2014. This makes it possible to measure the impact of the Groupe Berkem within its sphere of influence with regard to its stakeholders (customers, suppliers, other parties).

For more than 50 years, on the Gardonne site and then jointly on the Blanquefort, La Teste-de-Buch and Chartres sites, the Groupe Berkem’s history has been built year after year with confidence and a vision for the future.

The challenge for a chemical sector SME is to keep its independence. Financial independence, independence in terms of research and development, independence in its choice of industrial investments, even if they sometimes encounter technological issues. This conviction has made it possible for the Groupe Berkem to continue and differentiate itself in its markets.

As an innovative chemicals manufacturer, the Group operates in a highly controlled regulatory environment.

Each organisation or development project is measured and integrated in a responsible way, on human, environmental and economic levels. For each working project, stakeholders are involved, including production sites, distribution points and markets, both in terms of quality as well as risk management and compliance.

The Groupe Berkem’s pragmatic, efficient and transparent operation is recognised by several certifications and commitments, which means that results are constantly improving.

Committed to progress management and social responsibility approaches, the company is always looking to acquire new skills to become stronger than ever.

8 patents have been filed since 2011. 15 new products are marketed each year. Innovation is a driving force behind the Group's activity. It provides innovative, high-performance and quality solutions through its human and material resources. Attentive to market developments, trends are anticipated in order to improve, develop tools and production capacities and improve the services the company has to offer.

For the Groupe Berkem, innovation does not stop at its target markets. Innovation also means developing new internal models of information, organisation and services in order to increase efficiency and relevance.

In addition to these strengths in technology and organisation, Groupe Berkem’s employees are highly responsive.

The structural dimension, industrial tools, management method and full control of its development, production and marketing chains are, for the company, major advantages to be able to rapidly provide solutions and services to its destination markets.
