Acquisition of the LIXOL company by the Groupe Berkem

The LIXOL company, located at La Teste de Buch (department 33, France), is henceforth part of the Groupe Berkem, an industrial SME from Aquitaine specialised in chemistry. This acquisition thus brings to the Group competences and experience of a forth speciality, still connected to chemistry.
Since 1960, LIXOL produces, on its industrial site in Gironde, resins aimed at the paint, wood preservation, and ink industries. Originally, Pierre GALLIERE was at the head of the company, until he passed the management to his son Bertrand from 1986. The company is specialised in the development of resins called « alkyds ». They are made of plant oil, divers raw materials originated from the organic chemistry and petroleum solvents (white spirit).
The infrastructure production at LIXOL, established over 6 200 m² (of which 1 800 m² are covered buildings), allows to supply products under diverse forms: solvent free resins (high dry content level range), resins in solution in diverse solvents (white spirit), resins in emulsion (diluted in water).
Today, the company is composed of a team of 7 collaborators. It commercialises its products in France as well as several African countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Madagascar). The yearly production of resins of LIXOL, of approximately 3 000 tonnes, represents a turnover of 5M€, of which 15% is done exporting.
